A LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR:
Greetings Parents!
Whew! I almost feel like I’m back on lockdown during the pandemic! I have not been out of my home one time since Sunday evening…
Beauty and the Beast, Jr. is somewhere around the 40th play I’ve directed, and has been by far, one of the most difficult to cast. Why? First, because we had approximately 80 students to audition-which is awesome! And that is after several students pulled out because of sickness, etc. Secondly, there are so many talented kiddos in the GMSD!
I finally capped the cast to 52 wonderful young souls-a great team- that I look forward to working with for the next few months. I say “few” because that is how it will feel as we work our way through the enormous process of creating art on stage (truly one of my favorite activities).
As many of my students have heard me say, casting is like throwing a huge puzzle into the air and putting it back together, upside down…As you look through the cast list it might appear a bit strange or different, possibly because you may not recognize many names. I don’t know about you, but it always seems more comfortable to go with the familiar in any given situation; however, we might miss out on something spectacular if we do that. I am very proud to say that this cast is quite varied by campus, grade and experience. I’m looking forward to seeing what comes of this!
Congrats to the cast of Falcon Footlights’ Beauty and the Beast, Jr.!
